Carey dropped a 7 5 decision to Lawton.
"Not very often," Jones replied. "We just had a couple of bad shots, we just weren't as consistent as we wanted. We knew we'd have to re group and I really thought we did that today. I thought we made a lot of big shots when we had to."
So, how many times did she kick herself in the wake of giving the game away to Sweeting?
"There's certainly no runaways on the women's side, so we just can't possibly know," Carey said. "We've just got to keep plugging and keep trying to win games and hope that we end up in the mix at the end as well."
Ironically, Jones stole five of her seven points against Sonnenberg just two short of her unwritten record.
Surrendering seven steals in one game may be some sort of trials record but, luckily for her, that does not appear in the record book anywhere.

That was disappointing. Other than that, it's a long week and you see how you bounce back, and I thought we bounced back as well as we could."

Lawton has rebounded from an 0 2 start.
After Manitoba's Jennifer Jones gave away that many points in a loss to Alberta's Val Sweeting on Monday, she admitted she needed a "kick in the butt."
It is the mark of a veteran outfit that has won four Canadian crowns and a world title.

"We're OK," Carey said. "I mean, 3 1 would've be been great, but we didn't mind 2 2. We're right in the thick of it, right in the mix and that's all we can ask for. We control our own destiny, we've just got to come out and win, so no big deal."
Nedohin improved to 2 2 and a four way tie for third with Manitoba's Chelsea Carey, Saskatchewan's Stefanie Lawton and Ontario's Rachel Homan.
Carey plays Sonnenberg and Sweeting while Jones takes on Lawton and Homan on Wednesday.
"I don't know if we gave it away," Jones said. "We just made too many mistakes. It wasn't our best effort. You don't mind losing when you put your best foot forward and we really didn't do that (Monday) night. New Balance 1300 Light Grey
"This is a short week. It's not like the Scotties. We're short three or four teams, so it makes a big difference. So, you have to put things in the past and move forward, and I think we did that."
Jones jumped into a first place tie with Sweeting at 3 1, but could easily have been 4 0 if she had not gift New Balance 420 Womens wrapped Monday's win.
